Probably two different Jacobs listed here; one on South West Creek and one on Swift Creek by 1750.

Dec 18, 1739        A Deed of Gift from AB: TAYLOR to his Son Jacb: TAYLOR was acknowledged in open Court & on prayer of the said AB: TAYLOR the same is admitted to Record. (Haun, Weynette Parks; Craven Precinct-County NC Court Minutes; 1730-1741; Book II, pg. 95)

June 16, 1741        JACOB TAYLER brought into Court an Infant Boy Named James BEASLEY Son of Oxford BEASLEY & prays to have him Bound unto himself on mature consideration of the Court agreed the sd Infant should be bound unto the sd JACOB TAYLOR till he be at the age of twenty one years & to teach the sd Infant boy the art or mistery of a Cordwainer & Tanner & to learn him to Read the Bible in the English tongue & to write a Ledgable hand and to find the sd apprentice sufficent meat drink Washing & Lodging & to give his sd apprentice tow Suites of apparel from top to toe at the Expiration of the sd term. June 15, 1742        A Deed of Sale from Levy SMITH to William WORMINTON for two Hundred acres of Land which was proved by the oaths of James SMITH Thomas SMITH & JACOB TAYLER Subscribing Evidences thereto & prays to be admitted to Record. (Who is Jacob Jr? Could this be another family? Could Jacob of Abraham have had a child old enough to own land? Could this have been Slocum Creek Jacob or even Swift Creek Jacob? There was not a Joseph purchasing land on Slocum Creek.

Bk 5, pg 262. - 1751 - Abraham TAYLOR SR. to Jacob TAYLOR et al / WILL: Daughter Prudence, plantation where I now live (and other items), if no issue plantation to granddaughter Dinah, daughter of son Joseph and if she dies without heirs then to grandson Abraham TAYLOR, JR, son of Abraham TAYLOR, JR. - Daughter Prudence. Wife Ede. Son-in-law George Marshall - all children except Prudence to divide the rest - Robert, Ann Colton, Jacob, Rachel Beergley (Beesley), Joseph and Abraham. Exec: Son Joseph TAYLOR. 1753 JACOB TAYLOR and wife Ann sold to daughter Catharine Taylor 200 acres land on Swift Creek, part of Daniel Cockes patent & sold to Jacob Taylor, adjoining Daniel Cox. Wit: Lewis Bryan & Absalom Juten (sp). (Craven County Deeds; Bk 6, p. 289).

NOTE: Bill Murphy said Turkey Branch rises on state road 1125 to flow a short distance NW across State road 1127 to enter Deep Run at State Road 1141 - not on my map but this would be withing walking distance of my Edwin.

(being granted by patent to ABRAM TAYLOR 10 April 1761, 230 acres. Pay quit rents yearly due to his Majesty. Witnesses: Thomas WILLSON, Christian LERGUE, John TILGHMAN.
