The Robert to son Absolum I found in your notes yesterday threw me. Can that Absolum and yours be separated? Yes, Robert Taylor, blacksmith, gift to son Absalom Taylor 100 acres SS Neuse, ES of Flat Swamp. Part of a greater tract granted to Robert Taylor and Robert Green, Jr. 29 Sep 1756. Witnesses: Moses Taylor, Aacron (sp) Taylor. (Bk 12/13, p.99) 1st deed - 16 Jan 1767 - John Taylor gift to son Absolem Taylor 50 acres to his heirs begotten of his body [and specified if Absolom died without heirs, to go to widow as long as she remained a widow, but if married then land to go to the heir]. Plantation part of deed given by James Davis, Printer, out of Peter Smith's patent. Wit: John James, John Ives, John Wright. (Bk 12/13, p. 126) 2nd deed - 10 Oct 1758 - John Taylor gift to son Absolom Taylor land on head of Colemans Creek beginning at a sweet gum, small bottom, to black gum etc. Wit: George Barber, Veasley Austin, Joshua Taylor (Bk 1,p. 608). Also reference in court documents to this deed. Remainder of Absalom's purchases were on Slocum Creek and area.
So these are two different areas of Craven Co. and I believe two different Absaloms with two different fathers, John & Robert. |
