ABRAHAM SIMMONS. Abraham was born in Jones County, North Carolina, on 17 Aug 1809. Abraham died before 1848 in Jones County, North Carolina.
The eight known children of Martha (Patsy)1 Sutton and Abraham Simmons were as follows: 2. i. SIMEON2 SIMMONS was born circa 1832 in Jones County, North Carolina. I have information that he married the widow of John Henry Jackson. He is buried on the banks of Neuse in the Jackson Cemetery near Southwest Church. A Confederate soldier, Company A (later Co. F.) 66th Reg. No issue. + 3. ii. JOHN WILLIAM SIMMONS, born 26 Aug 1834 in Jones County, North Carolina; married Sarah V. Kornegay. 4. iii. ELIZABETH S. SIMMONS was born circa 1838 in Jones County, North Carolina. Information sent to me indicates she married a Waters. 5. iv. PENELOPE SIMMONS was born in Jones County, North Carolina. 6. v. LEMUEL J. SIMMONS, was born circa 1840 in Jones County, North Carolina. He married Julia Emma (Emie) Howard. He was grandfather to Adolph Vause. + 7. vi. SARAH (SALLIE) SIMMONS, born Dec 1845 in Jones County, North Carolina; married Richard Barwick; married David Taylor Waters. 8. vii. ANN SIMMONS was born in Jones County, North Carolina. She married Unknown Gray. 9. viii. MARY A. SIMMONS was born circa 1835 in Jones County, North Carolina.
The two known children of Martha (Patsy)1 Sutton and John W. Heath were as follows: 10. i. NANCY2 HEATH was born circa 1850 in Jones County, North Carolina. 11. ii. JESSE HEATH. Have information that Jesse had a daughter Dullas Heather who was Jesse Askew's mothers name Hyncia Heath. Dullas and Hynchia were sisters???. Jesse lives in Little Washington.

Generation Two

3. JOHN WILLIAM2 SIMMONS (Martha1Sutton) was born on 26 Aug 1834 in Jones County, North Carolina., He married Sarah V. Kornegay, daughter of George Kornegay and Clarissa Rouse. He died on 8 Oct 1925 at age 91.

Information sent to me indicates John served in the same CSA Unit as his brother Simeon. He and Sarah had eight children, four living to adulthood. One son was Luther.

SARAH V. KORNEGAY was born in Jones County, North Carolina. She died on 12 Dec 1901.
The seven known children of John William2 Simmons and Sarah V. Kornegay were as follows: 12. i. JOHN3 SIMMONS. 13. ii. MARTHA SIMMONS was born in Jones County, North Carolina. She died; Died young. 14. iii. PAUL V. SIMMONS. 15. iv. WILLIAM LUTHER SIMMONS. 16. v. BETTIE B. SIMMONS. Never married. 17. vi. CASSIE LOU SIMMONS. Never married. 18. vii. ANNIE MYRTLE SIMMONS was born on 13 Dec 1869. She married Thomas Ward.
7. SARAH (SALLIE)2 SIMMONS (Martha1Sutton). Sarah was born in Jones County, North Carolina, in Dec 1845., She married Richard Barwick. She married David Taylor Waters. Sarah died on 23 Apr 1928 in Lenoir County, North Carolina, at age 82; Her stone gives the death date as 23 April 1925.,

RICHARD BARWICK. Richard was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, circa 1845. Richard died in Lenoir County, North Carolina.
The only known child of Sarah (Sallie)2 Simmons and Richard Barwick was: 19. i. MARTHA EMMA3 BARWICK. Martha was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, on 25 Dec 1872. She married John Franklin Hardison in Lenoir County, North Carolina, on 4 Feb 1891. Martha died on 6 Jan 1966 in Lenoir County, North Carolina, at age 93. Her body was interred in Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina, in Maplewood Cemetery. She had the nickname of Mammie.
DAVID TAYLOR WATERS.
Margaret Hardison Kilpatrick told me he was from Williamston. She may have been talking about her father, Golden.
The only known child of Sarah (Sallie)2 Simmons and David Taylor Waters was: 20. i. SARAH (SALLIE)3 WATERS was born on 28 Oct 1888. She married Golden Hardison on 16 Jan 1907. She died on 21 Nov 1972 at age 84.
