and a poor copy in my possession. Mrs. Alex Linko transcribed
the Bible
from the original and I have used her transcription to try to
read the copy
of the original.
Catherine Rouse was the daughter of Sarah Croom Hardee and her
husband,
generally written to have been Joseph Hardee although I am
inclined to
think he was Thomas Hardee, Her mother is proven in various
Croom records.
It has always been written that Jonathan Rouse was the son of
John Rouse,
but circumstantial evidence indicates he was the son of Simon
Rouse.
Jonathan married 2nd, Nancy, said to have been a Waters.

OBIT of Sister Patsy Mozingo
In Memory of Sister Patsy Mozingo, widow of Alexander Mozingo
and daughter of John
Rouse and wife. Sister Mozingo was received a member of the
church at Mewborn's
Meeting House Saturday before the third Lordís day in
Sept. 1843 from which time she
was a pious member filling her place in the church until the
time of her death which took
place in A. D. 1846.

John William Rouse was a son of Benjamin Rouse and Mary Dawson
of LaGrange. J. W.
was called ìFool Johnî. In his old age he moved
to Craven County and is buried there in
the Riverside Christian Churchyard. John may have been married
2 times with a Bible
for each wife and set of children. This is not a transcription
