TOMBSTONE INSCRIPTIONS OF WAYNE COUNTY - by the Wayne County
Historical Association

Benjamin Rouse - 28 Dec 1830 - d 20 Octo 1911
Winnie E. Rouse - 1844 - 1926
Above two together in same cemetery

William Rouse - b 28 Feb 1797 - d 1869
Nancy wife of William Rouse - 18 March 1805 - d 1873
Elizabeth daughter of William Rouse and wife of Daniel A. Powell b 15
Feb 1832 and d 1851
Smithy J. Legett - 22 Feb 1838 -

Above 4 stones were in the Rouse Cemetery and moved to Willow Grove
along with a number of other later Rouse people. Nothing says Smithy
was a daughter of William and Nancy but age would so indicate. In an
explanation of the removal of the graves there is this information -
William was from Lenoir Co and Smithy J. Leggett was his daughter.

NOTE: John Rouse Jr and his wife Winifred Smith is said to have had a
son William and a daughter Smythe. The above would indicate this
William was a possible son of John Rouse Jr - really John Rouse III
