BALDWIN COUNTY

IVEY/WEST/STANLEY
Robert Ivey (wife Elizabeth West) and Joseph West (wife Sally Stanley) from Craven/Lenoir Counties moved to Baldwin County, GA (then the Georgia capital area) in the early 1800's from Bob West
 

BULLOCK COUNTY

HODGES/RAIFORD
Joshua Hodges (1736-1809) in the1780's--just after the revolution moved from Dobbs to Bulloch County, Georgia. He was married to Ann Raiford. moved to south Georgia (Bulloch County) between 1785-90. There are tons of Hodges there today--most of them his descendants.
 

LAURENS COUNTY

STANLY/FORDHAM
John Stanly (1798-1854) b. in Jones County on the Big Chinquapin Creek moved to Laurens County Georgia along with several of his brothers and sisters. There is an annual Stanley reunion at a place called the Ditch in Laurens County, Georgia. Stanly and his wife Mary Polly Fordham (Daughter of Benjamin Fordham) who are burried there. Mary's 2nd grand nephew was Christopher C. Fordham IV who was a chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and dean of the UNC School of Medicine.
 
LOWNDES COUNTY
 
Craven/Dobbs to Cheraws District - DARLINGTON COUNTY - Peter to Lowndes
 
WILLIAM WITHERINGTON (various spellings) - (Note: I have more extensive information but had to cut this down for this particular file) - William Witherington - Born Feb 4, 1756 in Craven Co, North Carolina (??). Died September 22, 1819 in AL., buried at Conecuh County, AL wife: Elizabeth Lewis born Sept 3, 17(?)1. The date is illegible in the prayer book. Daughter of Zelphra and Louise Lewis.
 
William probably had a brother Cleverly who remained in Lenoir County and Robert.
 
First went to Cheraws District then to Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, then to Conecuh County, Ala. William may have been born in the area of Craven that became Dobbs
 
i. Lewis4 Witherington, born June 26, 1766
ii. Laney (Janey) Witherington, born March 02, 1769 She married Peter DuBoise .
iii. Peter Witherington, born 1770 in NC died Abt. 1855 in Lowndes CO, GA He married Jane Wilkinson.
iv Elizabeth Witherington (m. Ezekial Norwood)
v Martha Witherington (m. David Pipes), remained in Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Elizabeth Norwood is buried at the Ellis Place Cemetery in Norwood, LA. Martha Pipes is buried in the Pipes Family Cemetery at Beechwood Plantation,
vi (Amanda) is said to have been born August 21, 1821 in Alabama
vii William WITHERINGTON Jr. was born on 11 Apr 1773 md Sarah "Sally" STANLEY before 1809 daughter of Sands Stanley of Jones Co, NC

IVEY/DAVIS
Lenoir to Macon Co - Barney and Alsey Davis Ivey Ca 1820 - she was the daughter of Malachi Davis
 

RANDOLPH COUNTY

 
KILPATRICK/ORMOND/HARPER
Greene Co to Chickasaw Co., Ms., - Kilpatrick, Ormond, Harpers - some of these and probably all came via Randolph Co, Georgia - William Kilpatrick (parents not known) md a daughter of Ormond Harper who was born in Greene Co.

EDWARDS/BEST/HEATH/MURPHY
GREENE CO - Cullen Edwards, m. --?-- Best (dau. of Benjamin Best of Dobbs/ Greene Co., NC);
ch: Polly Edwards, m. William Murphy, Sally Edwards m. John Heath --these ch. resided in Washington Co., GA - Cullen was brother of Col Thomas and Winifred Edwards
 
TALBOT COUNTY

WILKES COUNTY

SPENCE - Incell SPENCE who lived in Dobbs Co., and was in the Rev. War.- he is listed as being from Dobbs, even though he had land in Jones & ONslow Co.,--I have not been able to connect him with a parent, but do have info. on earlier Spences in the area;.---He migrated to Wilkes Co., Ga. in 1791--or at least was granted land there, but does show up in Screven Co., Ga. in 1798. He is found also with a brother Zachary SPENCE and son John SPENCE. Contact Sloan Mason
