Generation One
Generation Two 2. MARY2 HARPER (Francis1) was born circa 1750. She married Robert Williams circa 1769. She died after 1819 in Duplin County, North Carolina; Will of Robert Williams, Probated July Court 1819, Duplin County, NC. ROBERT WILLIAMS was born between 1745 and 1750. Information on this line provided by Charles Lucas - CCLMD@aol.com Notes for ROBERT WILLIAMS, JR.: Robert Williams was born circa 1750 in Dobbs County, North Carolina. He later moved with his father Robert Williams, Sr. to Duplin County, NC. He married Mary Harper, daughter of Francis Harper. NOTE: Her parents are not proven, but the names indicate she was a Harper and she was not the daughter of Alexander. mmm Robert Williams was a large land owner in Duplin County, and owned many slaves. He was a member of the Duplin County Militia in the Revolutionary War. His record of military service is recorded in the North Carolina Army Account Book W-1. His service number was 1751. ROBERT WILLIAMS SERVICE IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. HE HAS BEEN RECORDED NUMBER: 151584. He died circa 1852 in Sampson County, North Carolina. Notes for BLANEY WILLIAMS: Blaney Williams married Mary Jane Draughon daughter of George W. Draughon and Martha Beamon. They first resided in Duplin County and later moved to Sampson County. They are listed in the 1840 census of Sampson County, North Carolina. Blaney Williams at the time of his death in 1852 was a large landowner in Sampson County. He owned 1875 acres in Newton Grove in Sampson County. He owned 475 acres in Duplin County, and 442 acres in Greene County. The will of Blaney Williams is recorded in Sampson County in Will Book 1, page 414. The will was proved at the May term of court in 1852. The will is also recorded in Duplin County, North Carolina. In 1859, Deed Book 34, page 204, the estate of Mary Jane Williams is divided and George R. ( Robert ) Williams, son receives part of the estate. Blaney Williams is listed in the 1850 census of Sampson County. He is listed as age 63. His wife Mary J. is listed as age 49. The children listed are: Martha age 15 George Robert age 13 Walter Blaney age 11 Garry F. age 10 John age 8 Mary age 7 Also listed in the household is Caroline Williams age 18. She is thought to be a daughter of Blaney Williams Senior and his first wife whose name is unknown. Caroline Williams is thought to be a sister to Blaney Williams, Jr.

BLANEY2 HARPER (Francis1) was born circa 1757 in Dobbs County, North Carolina; Sherrod Tyson Family Bible, (1921 in the possession of Martha Tyson). He married Elizabeth Edwards. He married Elizabeth McIlwean, daughter of John McIlwean and Zilpha Williams, before 1786; Seth Tyson Family Bible, (Owned by Mrs. J. W. Parker of Farmville, NC). He died on 18 March 1821 in Greene County, North Carolina; Sherrod Tyson Family Bible. The Sherrod Tyson Bible states he was in his 64th year. Alexander Harper had a daughter, Elizabeth, born that same year and although Alexander appears to have had a son, Blaney, he does not appear to be the older Blaney, given the birth order in the Star newspaper article. Also on the 1820 Greene Census, there are two Blaney Harpers with men over the age of 45 and the 1830 and 1840 Census is consistent with another younger Blaney being bc 1770. There is no question the birth of this Blaney is correct as he voted in the 1779 Dobbs Election. According to the Pension Application of Solomon Witherington, Blanie Harper was an Ensign under General Bryan during the Rev. War. Blaney was on the 1816 Greene Tax List in Capt Sheppard's District - 159 1/4 acres - $5000, 6 town lots - 8 black poles. Delany and Charles H. were also in this District indicating all were descendants of Francis I. The Edwards vs Sheppard Supreme Court Case abstracted by Ruth Fentress proves he married Elizabeth Edwards as his 2nd wife, but the case does not clear up who the mother of the children was. The children of Blaney mentioned in the Court Case were Blaney Jr., Zilpha, Richard H. F., and Thomas E. Neither Mary, Elizabeth of Laney were mentioned. Logic says that the first list of children were by Elizabeth Edwards but Zilpha's middle name was McIlwean. The Court case clearly says her "children" not her child indicating she had more than one. ELIZABETH MCILWEAN died in 1801. It has been written that Elizabeth died in 1801 - I am not aware of any documentation on this. The six known children of Blaney2 Harper and Elizabeth McIlwean were as follows:
It is reasonable to assume that Blaney Jr. named his son after his brother.
The only known child of Blaney2 Harper and Elizabeth Edwards was:
4. FRANCIS2 HARPER JR. (Francis1) was born in Dobbs County, North Carolina, circa 1762. He married Teresa Hopton, daughter of Charles Hopton, circa 1788. Francis died. There is no proof that Francis Jr. was the son of Francis I. It appears that Alexander's son was still alive in 1818 and this one may not have been. This is very slim circumstantial. One Francis had a Marriage Bond in 1788 in Dobbs County and it is assumed this is the one, but again, it is not proveable. It has been speculated that Mary McNeese was a daughter of Francis. She had a son, John who had a son Blaney Harper McNeese and a son Dulaney. These names certainly indicate a connection. Mary McNeese married 2nd Benjamin Parrott and moved to SC. Benjamin Parrott was bc 1770. TERESA HOPTON. Teresa died. The two known children of Francis2 Harper Jr. and Teresa Hopton both born in Greene County, North Carolina, were as follows:

18. LANY3 HARPER (Blaney2, Francis1) was born before 1790. She married Seth Tyson, son of Moses Tyson and Elizabeth Joyner. She died on 8 June 1832; Sherrod Tyson Family Bible. Neither Tyson Bibles gives the parents of Laney. Julia has her listed as a child of Blaney but I am not aware of any proof. 19. ELIZABETH WILLIAMS3 HARPER (Blaney2, Francis1) was born on 21 February 1791 in Greene County, North Carolina; Sherrod Tyson Family Bible. She married Sherrod Tyson, son of Moses Tyson and Elizabeth Joyner, on 1 March 1809; Ibid. She died; Ibid. The Sherrod Tyson Bible only states Elizabeth's mother was Elizabeth- no surname. Elizabeth, the wife of Blaney given in this Bible appears to be Elizabeth Edwards. There are two death dates for her in the Sherrod Tyson Bible - the other one is 22 September 1824. Neither can be correct. The Tyson book gives her middle name as Williams but the BIble only gives W. I have the date to agree with the Tyson Book. There are several entries in the Bible that have not been entered on the database because I don't know who they were. In 1813 his father gave him land for love and affection plus five pounds. It is reasonble to assume he was of age at the time or close it. He married Martha Sugg, daughter of John Sugg II and Martha (Patsy) Aldridge, after 1828. He died in Greene County, North Carolina. There is no proof that Delaney was a son of Francis. The fact that Charles H. named a son Delaney is some circumstantial. He was on the 1816 Greene Tax List in Capt Sheppard's District - 392 acres - $590 - one white and 6 black poles. Mewborn, which took place on the 4th day of March 1897. Sister Mewborn was the daughter of Lemuel E. and Elizabeth Hardy, and was born on Jan. 1st, 1854. She was of a notable family. Her mother's maiden name was Tyson, and was a member of our church. Sister Mewborn, when about 18 years of age, was married to Parrott H. Mewborn, and of this union there were born 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls, 2 boys preceded her to the grave. Sister Mewborn, as all of Adamic race, was a sinner, and lived in that element and enjoyed herself as such until it pleased the Lord through his mercy to show her lost and ruined condition, and in his own way and time revealed himself to her as the chiefest of ten thousand and the one altogether lovely. She offered herself to the church at our May meeting, 1877, and was received and baptized by Elder I. J. Taylor. She ever filled her seat when not providentially prevented and was one loved and beloved by the whole church. She was good, interesting company and could make one feel welcome, and always enjoyed a religious conversation. Oh how we do miss her sweet, musical voice and happy, smiling countenance. She leaves a husband, 9 children, 1 brother and sister, the church and a host of friends to mourn, but thanks be to our Redeemer we mourn, but rejoice in her happy transit to that eternal home prepared before the foundation for predestinated and redeemed. Much might be written in her praise and the half not told, but I think best to speak in behalf of one while living and not so much after they are gone. Respectfully submitted to the church and approved, and ordered to be spread upon the record. L. J. H. Mewborn, Cl'k John W.
