Collection Greene County, N.C. 6 Nov. 1852 This Indenture made the 6 day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two between William F. EDWARDS and Martha his wife of the county of Greene and state of North Carolina of the first part and Edward R. COWARD and Alfred S. DARDEN of the same state and county of the other part witnesseth that the said EDWARDS and Martha his wife have for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and forty eight dollars then in hand paid by the said COWARD and DARDEN at and before the Execution of this Indenture the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge have bargain sold aliened ensealed and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell alien enseall and convey unto the said Edw. R. COWARD and A. S. DARDEN their heirs and assign a certain tract of land lying and being in the county aforesaid adjoining the lands of Richard ALLEN and Wm. P. GRIMSLEY and others it being a part of the lands of John GRIMSLY, dec'd given by will to said Martha EDWARDS, and bounded as follows, beginning at an oak on the run of Panther Swamp and runs N 87 E 102 poles to a pine thence North 3 poles to a stake then N 87 E 154 poles to the county road then with the road N 28 E 19 poles to a pine & read oak then S 72 W 31 poles then N 18 West 131 poles then South 76 W 112 poles then S 3 E 47 poles the S 87 W 98 poles to Panther Swamp then down the Swamp as the line run to the beginning containing one hundred and twenty eight acres more or less to have and to hold then before bargained land and premises with all and singular the appurtanences Thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtaining unto the said Edw. R. COWARD & Alfred S. DARDEN there heirs and assigns forever and the said Wm. F. EDWARDS and Martha his wife do convey to and agree with the said Edw. R. COWARD & A.S. DARDAN that they will warrant and forever defend the before described land and premises free from all incumberances against all manner of persons unto the said COWARD and DARDEN there heirs and assigns forever in witness of which the said W. EDWARDS, who reports that the said Martha A. acknowledged to him separate and apart from her Husband that she joined in with her Husband in the execution of the aforesaid deed of her own free will & accord & without the fear or the compulsion of her said Husband and that She doth now voluntarely asent thereto and ordered to be Registered.
