1810-1815) Ezekiel Creech Sr. was born in the year 1756
in old Johnston County, N.C. This section was to become what is
known today as Greene County. He was the 7th child of Benjamin
Creech Sr. and wife Mary Lewis Creech. At the young age of about
16 he married Mary Caldwell born about 1753, the daughter of
Spencer Caldwell and wife Martha, who lived near present day Wheat
Swamp in Lenoir County, N.C. After marriage Ezekiel and Mary made
their home at Wheat Swamp near the present day school and church
on land given to him by his father. Later they bought the Spencer
Caldwell home place. Mary Caldwell had brothers named: Samuel,
Charlie, Robert, Joshua and John Caldwell, all of Greene and
Lenoir Counties. Another brother Simon Caldwell went to Jefferson
County, Ga. Ezekiel Creech Sr. served with Captain Kennedy's
Company in the American Revolution from Dobbs County North
Carolina, being drafted for duty July 26, 1777, along with his
brothers John and Benjamin Jr. Ezekiel Creech Sr. became a large
land owner on Wheat Swamp in Lenoir County and also had land on
Rainbow Run in Greene County. He bought land on White Marsh and

his father and as said aforesaid he bought out his wife's brothers
in the Caldwell farm on December 30, 1809. Ezekiel Creech Sr. is
buried on the old Caldwell-Creech plantation near Wheat Swamp
Church, with no marker at his grave. At one time there was wooden
carved markers at the graves, but a fire destroyed them about the
year 1945. John Miller Creech(in his 70' s in 1981) remembers his
uncle telling him about the markers and has seen them. Also buried
in the same cemetery is his son Ezekiel Jr., his wife Mary, son
John, Sarah, John's wife, and probably others of the family. This
Ezekiel Creech, was known as the Revolutionary Ezekiel Creech, as
many cousins bore the same name. Ezekiel Creech Sr. died between

County, N.C. near Rainbow Run. He died before 1870 and is buried
along with his parents in the old Creech Cemetery on Rainbow Run,
without a marker. He married Mary Grimsley born 1812 a twin. in
Greene County in the Speights Bridge Township. She was the
daughter of Jethrow Grimsley and wife Lydia. Mary died after 1870
near Jason. She was living at the time with her daughter Nancy
Jane Creech Sugg. She is buried with her husband. Starky and Mary
made their home on Rainbow Run on the farm that his father John
gave him in the year 1838. Here is where he raised his family and
died. This house is still standing (2000 in bad shape) which was a
one and one-half story house. His son Christopher made his home
here in later years. This house is owned at present by Eugene
Hardy, a great grandson of Starky Creech. If Starky Creech became
a large land owner, it is not known; he owned small acreage in
this section of Greene County. Greene County, N.C. 1860

l92l) Christopher Columbus Creech was born August
15, 1842 on Rainbow Run in Hookerton Township in Greene County,
N.C. By trade he was a farmer, brick mason and carpenter. He
served the entire time of the Civil War with the 3rd North
Carolina Regiment, Company A. He was the son of Starky Creech and
Mary Grimsley. He married first Louvenia Forrest born September 22
1849, died August 10, 1911, the daughter of William Forrest Jr.
and wife Elizabeth Dixon. He married second Martha Patricia
Forrest Peaton, widow of John Peaton and sister to his first wife.
There was no issue by his second wife. Christopher C. Creech died
October 20, 1921 on the farm that he inherited from his father on
Rainbow Run in Greene County. He is buried on this farm with his
wife, infant son John, with a stone marker at his grave.
When Greene County called her sons to arms in
May 1861 to fight for what she thought was a just cause, Cris (as
I will call him) and his brother Joseph John Creech enlisted in
Company A, Third North Carolina Regiment. There was 125 original
soldiers and later the number increased to 168. These soldiers
marched to Goldsboro to wait the arrival of Burnside, but was sent
onto New Bern. where they remained for a month of intensive
drilling. Then they were transferred back to Goldsboro to wait
again for the expected advance of Burnside. This attack did not
come, so the company was sent to Richmond Va. where they arrived
on the battlefield of Seven Pines, just after a battle had been
fought, (Joseph John Creech, brother to Cris, had been transferred
to the F Company, 140th Regiment) The company of Cris's, made camp
seven miles from Richmond for the purpose of picket duty. (the two
Aldridge brothers, Thomas & James were in this company &
were killed) In the year 1862, Company A was engaged in
some of the most severe and hardest battles of the war. The
battles in which Cris Creech took part was Ellyson's Mill,
Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, Sharpsburg, Chancellorsville, Richmond.
Winchester, Malvern Hill, Payne's Farm and The Seven Day Battle
around Richmond. The number killed in battle from Greene County
outnumbered that of any other regiment. One account is given that
the ammunition gave out when they were just at the point of
defeating the enemy. The Third N.C. Regiment reached Appomattox
Courthouse on Saturday, April 8, 1865. Most of the original
soldiers had been left behind on battle grounds. The wounded were
numerous. The flag that they had so proudly waved on the morning
of May, 1861, when the soldiers departed the old popular tree at
Snow Hill, was torn by bullets, ragged and was bloodstained. They
were next ordered to open the road to Lynchburg, which was
occupied by the enemy. They were charged by the cavalry, supported
by the infantry. The battery was captured and many of the Greene
County men were taken prisoners and killed. The Greene County men
was led by Gen. W. R. Cox and the last shots that were fired in
northern Virginia were fired by the regiment containing many North
Carolina men, The company was defeated, taken prisoners and before
they left the valley they received the news that Lee had
surrendered. The records show that of the original 125 men who
left Snow Hill in May 1861, 11 were captured, 34 were killed, 26
died of wounds and only 40 returned after the war. Of these 40 who returned Christopher Columbus
Creech was one of them, without a scratch on him. He was one of
the men that escaped after the Lynchburg Road and fled back to
N.C. hiding and walking the long way as best he could. When he
arrived at Kinston, the Yankees had already burned the bridge over
the Neuse River and had captured Kinston. He had to swim the river
and as he did a small group of Yankees spotted him and tried to
cut him off. He came out of the river on the north side and hid in
a field grown up with broom straw side of the road. As he hid
there, two Yankees rode up on their horses looking for him. One of
them said. "Give me a match and we will burn the rebel out and see
him run like a rabbit." the other didn' t have a match either, so
the first Yankee said. "1st him go then as he is too scared to do
any more fighting anyway". After the two Yankees left, Cris returned to
his father' s farm and home, located near Rainbow Church, just
over in Greene County and a few miles from Kinston, N.C. He spent
the night with his family and the following morning he left to
find his company and comrades, not knowing that most of his
company had been captured or killed up in Virginia, when he
escaped. So he left walking towards Goldsboro, as the Confederate
Army had retreated that way. When he arrived at Smithfield. he met
the road full of Confederate soldiers coming back and told him
that the war was over and that Lee had surrendered. The men he met
were wounded. ragged. and a weary looking bunch of men that had
fought a very brave and gallant fight but had lost to a more
larger and more better equipped army. (Continued)
Christopher Columbus Creech (1842
-1921) My father, the grandson of Christopher C.
Creech, was William Franklin Creech, who knew Cris very well and
as a small boy, spent many days and nights with him after his
first wife died. During these long nights, he would sit by the
fire place, take his little toddy and tell his eldest grandson of
his experiences while he was serving with Lee and Jackson in the
bloody Civil War. He told of one instant when they were camped
around Richmond. Va. one night with no food to eat; Cris told the
officer in charge if he would give him permission to leave camp,
he would get them something to eat. The officer told him that no
permission would be given, but if he just disappeared he could not
help it, so Cris slipped out of camp and in a short period of time
Cris was back with a milk cow. He never did say how he came by the
cow, but the hungry gray coats had beef that night. He said that
the men were so hungry that they could not wait for the meat to
get cooked done, so ate it with bloody water running down their
arms. Also another instant, they were marching
through some farming land in southern Virginia, in which there was corn planted and
was in the green roasting ear stage and the men ran to the field.
pulled the com. ate it raw and as a result many were taken with
the dysentery so bad that their end intestine came out at least a
foot long. Many died from this as they marched along the roads of
Virginia. There were many other things he told about such as
robbing the dead of their shoes, so that they would not have to
walk in the snow, frost or hard frozen ground barefoot. Many had
rags tied on their feet, but they soon came off or wore out. Many
suffered from frost bitten feet which caused the loss of toes, one
foot or sometimes both feet. There were other things he told that
is too terrible to put into print. Many other things he told agrees in accord
with the writings of the 125 men in Company A, Third Regiment of
North Carolina. Cris Creech always spoke highly of General
Stonewall Jackson and said that he was a much better General than
Robert E, Lee. It is said Cris Creech hated the "Yankees" as much
as any man known. He always called them "Dam Yankees", as long as
he lived. Deed: Greene County, N.C.- October 17,

Benjamin Franklin Creech
(1872-1932) Benjamin Franklin Creech was born April 30,
1872 in the Hookerton Township on Rainbow Run. He was a farmer and
like his father a brick mason and carpenter. He was called "Frank
Creech" and has lots of grandsons and great grandsons bearing this
name for him. He was a very mild and good natured man with a good
sense of humor and like to keep all around him in good spirits. He
inherited this nature from his father. Now Frank Creech seem to
have a roving way about him as he moved about a lot. He sold the
farm his father and aunt left him and bought other land in Greene
County, then sold it and bought land in Wayne County; then lost
this during the great 1930 depression. He moved about in Greene
and Lenoir Counties farming, laying brick and doing carpenter
work. He married in 1891 Joanna Sugg born Jan. 24, 1871 died Jan.
15, 1953, the daughter of Joshua Parrott Sugg and 1st wife
Harriett McIntyre. He was living in Kinston, N.C. when he died of
cancer April 21, 1932. He is buried at the Mewborn Family Cemetery
near Jason in Greene County along with his wife. There are stone
markers at their graves. William Franklin Creech (1894-19
73) William Franklin Creech was born in Hookerton
Township on Rainbow Run, Greene County, N.C. April 23, 1894. He married the
first time April 20, 1914, Vicey Pauline Mewborn born Oct. 16,
1893 died June 26, 1925 the daughter of Joshua Parrott Newborn and
Ida Varina Wooten. He married 2nd Jan. 2, 1927 Mary Magaline
Hinnant born June 11, 1908, the daughter of Joseph L. Hinnant and
Winnie Harrison. William Franklin Creech was a farmer by trade and
acquired large land holdings in Greene and Wilson Counties, N. C.
He lived in the Jason Township of Greene County. You might say
that William Franklin Creech was a self made man, a good father
and husband. He married two of the best women a man could want.
When he died, he left his 11 children a good size farm each with
all taxes paid. He was a lover of the soil and his fellow man. He
is buried at the Mewborn Family Cemetery along with his first
wife. There is room for his 2nd wife to be buried also beside him.
See the poem he wrote on another page. ( His 2nd wife, Maggie,
died at noon on Jan. 26, 2000 several of her children were at her
side. One of the largest snow storms ever occurring in Greene Co.
had happened just a dew days prior to her death.) James Milton Creech ( 1920 - 1983
) James Milton Creech was born August 20, 1920
on his father's farm in Greene County, N. C. in the Jason
Township. He married June 14, 1941 Hester Mary Pelt born Jan. 16,
1925, the daughter of Robert Monroe Pelt and Hattie Essie Garris
of Wayne County, N.C. By trade James M. Creech was a tobacco
auctioneer and farmer. After his marriage he moved to the Shine
Township of Greene County. He served as Greene County Commissioner
for two terms and in 1979 wrote a History of Greene County, N. C.
which was the first detailed history of the county to be
written. James M. Creech (1920-1983)- Poem written 1974 "My County" High on a hill I stood, a century it seemed;
and viewed my county of Greene; There the rural land was around and
the busy city noise was not found; I felt the green earth firm 'neath my feet,
where the wild flowers grew mild-mannered and
sweet; And thought how so many years ago,
God called all matter into life, "He spoke and
it was so"; I lifted my eyes to the belfry of the sky,
and through the blue-white patched clouds,
I watched the wild birds fly; I saw the lofty
pine, the stout mighty oak, the maple so fair,
in fact, all the trees seemed to be in
prayer Anew this place was hallowed ground. for while
my world was still, I met the God of endless time, high on this
Greene County hill. Edna Creech Maraijko (1922- ______
) Poem written 1973 "Pass It Along" When a bit of sunshine hits you, After passing
of a cloud; When a bit of laughter gets you, And your
spine is feeling proud; Don' t forget to up and fling it at a soul
thats feeling blue, for the minute That you sling it; It's a boomerang to
you. William Franklin Creech
(1894-1973) Poem written 1960 I believe that today is the Best day since
yesterday, and that tomorrow will be even better; I believe in Life and Love; I believe Joy and
Happiness for all; I believe there is nothing better than a true
Friend; I believe that nothing worth while is
wasted I believe to be good is well, to do good is
better, to make good is best I believe in having big ideas that your
Friends will believe in you I believe it is not so much what we Expect
from Life as what we plan to make it that counts I believe he that tilleth his land shall have
plenty of bread, but he that Followth after vain persona shall
have sorrow. I believe that no one is successful without
God. William T. Creech (1915-1981) Poem written Mother's Day 1933 Someone I love comes back to me, With every
gentle face I see; Beneath each wave of soft brown hair, I seem
to see my mother there; With every kind glance and word, It seems as
if I must have heard; Her speak and felt her tender gaze, with all
her love of yesterdays; And I am moved to take her hand, and tell her
now that I understand; How tired she grew beneath the strain of
feeling every love one's pain; Then I would smooth and kiss her face, And by
her side take my place; And sob my heartaches and cares away, The
tears I have so long repressed; Would lose their hurt upon her breast, I think
if I could feel her touch; Once more it would not matter much, How bright
or how dark the day; I love each mother that I see, who brings my
own so nearer to me; For her face has been a beacon ray, sweet to
my memory and fresh today; Pointing to Heaven, that home above, where I
shall meet her, she whom I love. Richard Creech b. 1600 d. 1630 m. Frances

1885. Issue by 3rd wife Emily Pate Story: 11. Nettie Creech b. ca 1885 and is listed on
the Cherokee Indian Roll in 1902 as being 1 to 16 years of age.
She married Lonnie Moorman. Sion Creech, Sr.
(1818-1887) Sion Creech Sr. owned 11,000 acres of land in
DeSota Pariah, La. and about 29,000 acres in Parnola & Shelby Counties Texas,
making over 140,000 acres total. When he died his will left his
last wife the Home place, 760 acres and lands in Texas (he had
already given his children part of it) He left 1,400 acres in
DeSota Parish, La. and 3,428 acres in Panola County Texas to his
children by his first 2 wives. Sion Creech Sr. (known as Big Si)
has a story that he was a tough, mean man and that he killed quite
a few men. It is said that when he came to Sheveport, La. with his
wagon train of cotton that the word went ahead to clear the way
and that they were on the way. As the wagon train moved along the
way; Sion Jr. (Little Si) and James (Little Jim) rode on either
side of Big Si and were also very tough. It is also said that
Little Si and Little Jim were guilty of killings. It seems that
this same wagon train left La. and went to Texas the same way,
only this time Daniel, Noah Jr., Sion Sr.'s brothers were with
them and also Aaron Creech, his brother-in-law. Noah Creech Sr.
remained in Alabama & La. until the others had
settled. December 3, 1860 - Sion Creech sold to
T. G. Boyd. 1 copper colored 5 year old female for $500.
June 3, 1864 - Sion Creech bought from
G. W. Sims, 1 negro boy age 16 named Edmond for $3,300.
April 18, 1859 - Deed Book F - Panola
County, Carthage, Texas- Deeds from Noah Creech Sr. & wife
Sarah to P.C. Pyle; Daniel J. Creech; Thomas J. Creech; Noah
Creech Jr. and to James J. Creech, a minor with Noah Creech Jr. as
his agent until he reaches the age of 21 and meanwhile the land
was to stay in the possession of Noah and Sarah Creech until their
death.
Will: Noah Creech- Written August 1865 and
filed on Jan 20, 1866 at Panola County Court House. He left
every thing to his wife Sarah except his blacksmith tools which he
left to Sion Creech Sr. The 2nd wife of Sion Creech Sr. was Tilitha T.
Harris, Billingsley even tho' on her marriage certificate to Sion
Sr. it is Tabitha Billingsley. Her father Hudson Harris names her
as Tillitha T. in a suit she filed against her brother it is
Tillitha and Tabitha also her sister Martha Jane Harris
Billingsley filed suit against her husband and gives Tilitha P.
and T. T. Creech and Tabitha. They were the daughters of Hudson
Harris whos' father was Sherrod Harris sometimes spelled Sherwood.
The will of Hudson Harris and the two suits are on file at DeSota
Parish, Mansfield. La. The will of Sherrod (Sherwood) Harris is in

) John Creech, Sr. was born in old
Dobbs-Johnston County, N.C., what was to become present day Lenoir
County. He was the son of Benjamin Creech, Sr. and wife Mary
Lewis. He was drafted into Captain Kennedy's Company, July 26,
1777, along with his brothers Benjamin Creech Jr. and Ezekiel
Creech Sr. from Dobbs County, N.C. to serve in the American
Revolution. It seems that he married just before he was drafted
for service. He married Elizabeth Robinson, the daughter of
Benjamin Robinson and wife Celia, of Dobbs County, N.C. John
Creech, Sr. was shown on the Dobbs County 1769 and 1780 tax list,
but not shown on the 1790 Federal Census, because he was dead by
this date. He is buried in the old Creech Cemetery on Rainbow Run
in present day Greene County, N.C. along with his two brothers and
wives. There is no marker at present to his grave, but in the past
his grave was marked as well as his brothers, but due to the
markers being destroyed in the 1930's by a old black man, who was
told to clean up the cemetery, knew no better, removed the tombs
and put them in a wash on Rainbow Run (have never been found). Two
men have seen these tombstones, Mr. Willie Sugg and William T.
Creech, both now deceased. After John' s death, Elizabeth, his wife sold
their land in present day Lenoir County to Parrott Mewborn I and
Benjamin Creech Jr. It seems that Elizabeth Robinson Creech, her
brother Thomas Robinson, sister Easter Robinson, and Elizabeth's
three sons, John Jr., Elijah, and Jonathan Creech set out by wagon
train to the west. They reached Guilford County, N.C. in the year
l781, where the first cousin of her husband Stephen Creech lived
on land that he had bought from John Caldwell in the year 1773.
Now this Stephen Creech had also bought lands in Montgomery and
present day Wilkes County, N.C. Records show that Stephen was here
until about the year 1784, then joining the wagon train with the
others moved toward the western and north, part of Virginia,
Montgomery County, Va.; Here they stayed until the year 1788, then
they moved on toward old Lincoln County, Ky. now Harlan County,
and Lee County, Virginia. They reached here about the year 1789
and settled; now Stephen Creech, being the oldest and looking out
after the rest, help settle his two sons Ledocia and Enoch,
Elizabeth & her three sons; Stephen returns to N.C. where he
sells his land and returns to Lee County, Va. about the year 1798;
Stephen's son William Creech, settled on land in Russell County,
Va. By 1799, both Stephen Creech and John Creech Jr. (he is called
by many as John Creech Sr. because he was the first John in Lee
Co.) were listed as tax payers and paid one tithe each and Stephen
on three horses. Enoch and Ledinah Crich appear on the personal
property tax in Lee County in 1796. The John Caldwell in Guilford
County, was brother to the wife of Ezekiel Creech Sr. the brother
to John Creech Sr. husband of Elizabeth Robinson Creech. If
Elizabeth ever remarried or if she lived to be of an old age, it
is not known. Old Dobbs & Johnston County Index

Day. A Short History Of William
Creech: A Noted Man of the Kentucky
Mountains
Uncle William (Billy) Creech of Harlan County
Kentucky affectionately known as Uncle Billy", was the principle
founder of the "Pine Mountain Settlement School", and a remarkable
character whose benificence had great results in the Kentucky
mountains. His death occurred in a Louisville hospital May the
18th 1918 and from there his body was taken to his home in Harlan
County; William Creech; beloved as the founder of the
"Pine Mountain Settlement School", One of the most important educational
institutions to be established in the eastern Kentucky mountains,
and was a picturesque character in that section of the State where
many writers won fame with stories woven from real
life. Uncle Billy Creech as he was affectionately
known to thousands of men, women and children throughout the
country and the mountain sections of the State; came to here
"Norton Memorial Infirmary" from his home at "Pine Mountain"
Kentucky, several weeks ago for treatment. He was suffering from a
complication of diseases and when his condition became desperate a
surgical operation was decided on as a last resort and the only
hope of saving his life; he came out of the ordeal very weak and
his death was not unexpected. Uncle William was born in Harlan county in
1845, and after serving through the States in the Civil War; he
was one of the first pioneers to journey back over the Kentucky
mountains to the headwaters of the Kentucky River. There he
labored hard for many years to improve conditions. He inspired all
his neighbors with the spirit of industry and many years ago began
promoting his Settlement School. It was not, however until five
years ago that he was able to deed all his property over to the
"Pine Mountain Settlement School", to have and hold for shool
purposes as long as the Constitution of the United States exists.
According to the text of his written instrument the school today
is prospering beyond the fondest hopes of "Uncle Billy" and those
who were associated with him. He had been conspicuous all through his life
in his zeal for better things. Writing recently of his hopes for
the children in the "Pine Mountain School". He says, "I dont look
after wealth for them; I look to the future of our country. I want
them taught the knowledge of good and evil and to serve the Living
God ". After the settlement of this school "Uncle
Billy" and his followers in defatigably to raise funds for the
building of a road from one of the isolated sections to the
school. This highway he often said, "would liberate more than five
thousand people to enable them to reach the education available at
the settlement." Success crowned that project, and he
afterwards said, "That his lifes' work was finished and that he
was ready to die happily". The body of "Uncle Billy", was taken to Pine
Mountain late in the day after his death. Beside his widow he is
survived by the following children: Joseph G. Creech; William R.
Creech; Henry Creech; and three daughters: Mrs. Folly Lewis; Mrs.
Nancy Lewis; and Mrs. Rhoda Wilder; all residents of
Kentucky. A replica May 19, 1916 By Ira Paulus Isom The History of Uncle Billy Creech, founder of
the "Pine Mountain Settlement School" was written buy, Ira Paulus
Ison of Stephens, Ky. the son of Hannah Creech & husband
_____lson. He also the following about his mother and the Creech
family, 1916.
[NOTE: (added April 2011) Charles Cowden requested the following be put on Old Dobbers, "This page credits the gift of land for the Pine Mountain Settlement School to the wrong William Creech. The correct William Creech is: William Creech, b. 30 Oct. 1845, d. 18 May 1918, m. Sarah "Sally" Dixon 15 Mar 1866. Sarah, b. 13 Apr 1846, d. 02 Apr 1925, was the daughter of William Dixon of Harlan Co. KY. William "Uncle Billy" Creech was the son of Joseph Creech and Mary "Polly" Campbell of Poor Fork, KY (now Cumberland, KY). I know the truth in this matter because I was born and raised in Harlan County, and I am descended from Enoch Taylor Creech, the brother of the correct William Creech. END OF NOTE ]
The Creeches in general were an industrious
people and as a rule were generous and kind and were mainly a
sensible people. my mother was a mistic never went to school but
two weeks during her life; learned the letters of the alphabet and
the numerals but never did learn to read she thought it a waste of
time she had learned to spell 9 words by sound and hearin~ others
spell and could go foot in a spelling class to the head almost
every time. She learned a lot of the Scriptures by quotation from
others and could do almost all kind of work even chopping wood,
cutting corn, husking corn, stripping and cutting cane to make
sorghum; never was beat in hoeing corn by any man. Had her own
sheep, her own geese, and her own chickens, could make and save
money and generally bought whatever she wanted. In growing up she
learned ginseng, yellow root and other herbs that she could sell.
She bought all her own clothing after she got to going into the
forest and take up anything that would sell in the store. When the
ground would get too wet to work in the crops she would go into
the forest to get the roots of all plants that would bring money.
She had an eye as keen as an Indian and an ear to hear like a
squirrel. She carded wool, spun yarn to knit socks and
stockings for the whole family. Wove cloth in the loom wove
blanklets to sell and gave each of her ten children a twenty-five
pound feather bed and gave each a heavy woolen blanket and a heavy
bedded linsey quilt, bought ticking and made each of her children
two heavy feather pillows. She cultivated her own garden mostly
with a hoe. My oldest sister lived; to be almost 87 years old and
my brother almost two years older, I will be 89 years old the 22
day of this month. This the 18th day of February, I was 87 years,
two months and five days old thia morning about three
o'clock. As a winder I will close Ira Paulus lsom Stephens, Ky. 41177 Ira Paulus Isom wrote: John Creech had a brother Jonathan, but I
never could get much about his family, but my mother was a
descendant of his. The only fact that I can give on his family is
what I learned from my mother in the first place her grandfather
Samuel Creech born Aug 12, 1804 bought a homestead here on Little
Fork of the Little Sandy River of John Perry for $500, which
contained 500 acres; it was so infested with poisonous snakes is
why he sold it so cheap. My farm contains 18 acres of the best
