State of North Carolina - Know all Men by these Presents Jones County - that I Hugh Stanley of sd County & State have by these Presents Nominated & Appointed John Bell of the County of Wake & State affors.d an Attorney in fact for me and in my Name ?? to my lye[?], to Sue for Seek & Recover from all Persons Whatsoever, all & Singular the Right, Title Claim & Interest, that I may have to any Milatary Lands, Bounty &c which is due to me the only rightfull heir of my Brother, James Stanley decd for his services in the Revolutionary War in the continental line of this State, and I do by Virtue of these Presents authorize my Sd Attorney and or more Attorneys at Law under him to appoint and again at his Pleasure to revoke, & I do hereby ratify & confirm whatsoever my Sd Attorney may do touching or concerning the same & his Acts done shall be good & Valid to all Intents & Purposes as tho I ware Personally Present and do those Acts myself, In testimony whereof I have hereto Set my hands & seal this 6h day of July A.D. 1821
