Edith (or anyone else) could this be the John that m Mary Faison that had a dau Elizabeth that m Col. John Ashford ? Source sent to me by Edith, Hines book pp 362-365 by W.N. Hurley, Jr, I do not have this book.

John had a bro. Joel, James, Rufus. Just notice that in 1850 Joel has a Elizabeth age 9 value of pp 2700.00 so I think I found the John C. you were asking about. (there was a James age 19, but not the son of John C. as mention Maybe in someone else's?

The above book has him as the son of Stephen Hines m Lavina Martin, Stephen was the son of Charles and Sallie Taylor Hines of Sampson Co., NC He died prior to 1838. (CGT)

But there are 2 other sources that say the Father of Stephen that d ca 1838 one has Solomon one has Reuben. Does anyone know for sure? Will send another e-mail on this title REUBEN.* This not have the Stephen that d ca 1838? (CGT)

Daniel Hines of Duplin to Isaac Hines of Dobbs, 65lbs land in Duplin, patented in New Hanover, NS Goshen Swp. and both sides Buck Branch & Holly Swp. 200 acresit being for 100 acs. of the sd. land lying on upper side of said branch, the plantation he now lives on was taken up by Daniel Sullivant 23 Feb 1754.

From The LDS sumitter Sharon Downing Jarvis - this is what I have on a REUBEN HINES. Reuben b bef 1748 Johnston Co., NC d ca 1798 Wayne Co., NC - Mother Patience - m Ziphia Carraway b ca 1754 dau of Henry & Elizabeth Carraway.

Sampson Co hertiage bk page 434, # 676 by Claude H. Moore, (this will be abstracted)

"The Hines family first lived in Dobbs Co., the records show that a certain Solomon Hines purchased a plantation on Goshan Swamp. By 1780 DANIEL Hines, JAMES Hines, LEWIS Hines, CHARLES Hines, and WILLIAM Hines were all living on Goshan Swamp in Duplin. CHARLES Hines m SALLIE Taylor, a dau of LABON Taylor, and it is believed that they were the parents of STEPHEN Hines who married LAVINA Martin. STEPHEN had died before 1838.

Children: Margaret, James, Cuzza, Rufus, Joel, and John (note no mention of a Wm, Keziah, who by papers found by John Hamlet show minor children of Stephen)
