Micajah Hart  

Dobbs and Pitt Counties, North Carolina

This is a collection of every record pertaining to any Micajah Hart in the two counties that I could find. It is apparent that we are seeing several generations here, and they may not have been father/son, etc.

 

I compiled this in an effort to determine if the earliest Micajah was a son of Moses Hart, with whom he seemed connected in someway. Upon discovering that the first Micajah was granted land in the 1750s, I became doubtful, because that would have placed his birth too early to be the son of old Moses.

 

How was the first Micajah related to Moses?

The second Micajah may have been the son of the first Micajah, or even of Moses. Not knowing the death date of the first one, the records beginning about 1780 may have been of the second Micajah.

This would be the 3rd generation Micajah.

 

Micajah Hart married Ridley ---? about 1812 in Pitt, North Carolina (from IGI at Familysearch.com)

 

Thomas Micajah HART was born abt 1816. He married Sophia TYSON abt 1838 in Pitt County, North Carolina. She was born 18 Mar 1821 in Pitt County, North Carolina, and died 11 Apr 1888 in Jasper, Jasper County, Texas.

In the late 1830s, Barram moved across the line to Greene County, where we find him on the 1840 census as Byram Hart, listed near Micajah Hart.

If this Micajah were born in 1753, he cannot be the Micajah in the earliest Pitt and Dobbs records. If this birthyear is correct, then perhaps he is Micajah the 2nd.
