Abstract from The North Carolina Gazette (New Bern, NC). It appeared in the editions of September 12, 19, and 26,1777.

"To be sold, at the plantation where Simon Bright, Esq., late of Dobbs County, deceased, lately dwelt, at public vendue, on the 3rd day of next October, part of the personal estate of the deceased, consisting of a small library of books, several neat guns, a very good compass and chain for surveying land, several horses (among which is a fine blooded stone horse, of a bay color, three years old last spring), a parcel of hogs, cattle, and sheep. At the same time and place will be hired out for one year, two likely negro boys and a girl by James Bright, John Cooke, executors."
NOTE: This notice is unclear whether this proposed sale is from the estate of Capt. Simon Bright, Jr. (ca. 1734-1776), or from the estate of his father, Col. Simon Bright, Sr. (ca 1702-1777). Since
father and son died in Dobbs County less than a year apart, they frequently have been confused in the records. Simon Jr, the more famous of the two, married Mary Graves; he was a good friend of Gov. Richard Caswell and a signer of the Halfax Resolves. From the  Francis R. Hodges Collection
(I believe it to be from the Simon Bright Jr. estate because James Bright and John Cooke were the executors of his Will.) Patty
